Policy preferences and direction are in great part an outcome of participative democratic deliberations - elected leaders and public servants must legitimize policy decisions to gain widespread public assent. Legitimacy depends on the congruence of policy with wide spread preferences of what an electorate wants and what is important to them; and more importantly on the electorate's understanding of the present and emerging challenges that should influence their preferences.
These articles, blogs, and commentaries aim to enlarge access to information about emerging foreign and domestic challenges in ways that enrich and widen our understanding of underlying conditions and positions that impact foreign and domestic policy deliberations.
